This garage had good bones but zero personality. It was a catch-all storage space with a basic door looking out to a pool that nobody was really using. The homeowner wanted something totally different - a room where people actually want to hang out, inside and out at the same time.
We started by cutting a new garage door opening into the exterior wall facing the pool. That framing process alone is a serious structural job. We built it right, installed a full-panel glass garage door with a black aluminum frame, and the whole backyard opened up. Natural light pours in, the pool is front and center, and the space completely changed character. We also added a new window on the exterior wall with a granite ledge and bar seating outside - a simple detail that makes a big difference when you're entertaining.
Inside, we added an arched doorway that connects the main room to the drink station area. That arch does a lot of work - it breaks up a plain wall, adds a little character, and keeps the flow between spaces feeling intentional rather than chopped up. The drink station itself got dark lower cabinets, open shelving, a patterned tile backsplash, and a flush-mount light fixture overhead. It's a proper setup for hosting.
The floors got an epoxy treatment throughout, which is the right call for a space that's going to see foot traffic from a pool. Easy to clean, durable, and it looks sharp. A new interior door was added as well, giving the room proper separation from the rest of the house when needed. Recessed lighting, fresh paint, clean trim - every detail got attention.
This is what a well-planned interior and exterior renovation can do for a space that wasn't pulling its weight. One room, completely reworked from the walls out, and now it's the spot everyone gravitates to.
